Style File: The Autumn Skirt

Remember my fall skirt tutorial that was posted on launch day?? Well today I want to share with you how I chose to style it. I love the way it turned out and I came upon the perfect fall day to wear my refashioned skirt!

Wearing one of my favorite pair of earrings that are a vintage keep from my Nana. The rusty brown really ties in with the fall nicely.

This outfit is really carefree and comfortable so I rocked a simply puff!

I love fall and I'm really glad I got my hands on this dress turned skirt right in time to style it up for autumn!

Autumn Centerpiece

I know that Fall is almost over but I wanted to share a little bit of craftiness for the season before it's all candy canes and Christmas trees.

Recently, I was cleaning out my little crafting nook that has now been turned into a very multi-purpose workspace and I found these bottles that I thrifted some time back.  I always love grabbing bottles and vases and such even with no real plans on what I am going to do with them.

These bad boys needed a purpose and so I came up with this simple little number. A centerpiece for Autumn, we used it for Thanksgiving, that just gives a little Fall jazz to the table.

I love jute twine. I used it last year in my fall pumpkins and I tend to lean back towards it a lot. I just love the rustic/vintage feel it can give to any craft/decor item.

So I got to glueing.

I added a little fabric flower to the twined bottle with some fabric I had a round the house.
Had some silk Autumn flowers, so I threw some of those in there (eventually changed up to some real chrysanthemums). Smacked on a ribbon. Scattered some glitter leaves that Zee and I made together. Laid down a simple runner from some fabric at home.... and ta da!

Simple Autumn decor!!  Keep this in mind next year for your Fall tables and mantels :)  Simple and funtastic.

Now it's time to craft Christmas!!

Fall Skirt Tutorial

Thrift shopping led me to a fabulous find this fall.  When I saw the print of this dress my mind starting spinning.

The dress itself is kind of dated. Needs some work. The collar leaves something to be desired. So I decided to convert it into a maxi skirt for the fall!

I started by cutting of the top part of the dress. Luckily, this dress already had elastic in the waist so it saved me the step of sewing one in.  I cut about an inch or so about the elastic to give me a little space to work with.  I then pinned the extra fabric down the the existing elastic and sewed around the perimeter of the elastic attaching the extra fabric.  Because I cut an inch. I had a lot of extra inside once sewn, so I trimmed that down so it wouldn't poke out when wearing it.

Then rock it out!!
